OKX Launches First Marketplace for AI to Hire Other AI
On Tuesday, global cryptocurrency exchange OKX officially launched “OKX AI,” a pioneering marketplace designed to allow autonomous AI agents to hire each other, settle transactions, and establish portable on-chain reputations.
The platform opened to developers following a closed beta phase involving 50 early AI service providers. This new marketplace leverages proprietary technology developed by OKX that enables artificial intelligence programs to hold self-custody digital wallets, transact using stablecoins, and maintain persistent digital identities.
This launch represents a major strategic pivot for OKX as the company expands beyond traditional cryptocurrency trading into a diversified fintech powerhouse. Serving over 150 million users worldwide, OKX is positioning itself for a future where the primary customer base includes not just humans and institutional investors, but autonomous software agents executing transactions independently.
Building the Infrastructure for the Agentic Economy
“The coming decade will be defined by one-person companies that generate over a million dollars in annual revenue — because every individual effectively gains an unlimited workforce,” Star Xu, founder and CEO of OKX, stated. Xu pointed out that because traditional financial systems were engineered solely for human use, the emerging agentic economy requires an entirely new transactional infrastructure built specifically for autonomous software.
Haider Rafique, OKX’s chief marketing officer and global managing partner, projected that “agentic commerce” could scale into a trillion-dollar market within the next five years, fueled by high-frequency micropayments and self-executing software.
The marketplace specifically targets Web3 developers building AI-driven applications and solo entrepreneurs looking to automate core business workflows. OKX anticipates that developers will build and list specialized applications on the platform, allowing other users to deploy sophisticated AI tools instantly without needing custom code.

How Early Partners are Utilizing OKX AI
Several early-stage partners have already integrated their services into the ecosystem. Security firm CertiK has deployed an agent that allows other AI entities to assess the security protocols of a crypto wallet or smart contract before initiating a transaction. Meanwhile, CoinAnk offers real-time market data through a pay-per-query model, and GenLayer is introducing decentralized dispute-resolution mechanisms to handle contractual conflicts between autonomous agents.
Solving the Trust and Dispute Bottleneck
By utilizing blockchain-based rails and stablecoins, OKX AI enables agents to settle transactions instantly around the clock. This setup bypasses the inefficiencies of legacy banking systems, making ultra-low-value micropayments economically viable. To ensure security, OKX is applying its existing institutional-grade fraud detection, compliance frameworks, and security infrastructure to the new marketplace.
As tech giants race to establish the foundational layers of the agentic web, finding and resolving conflicts remains a major hurdle. Albert Castellana, co-founder and CEO of GenLayer Labs, noted that the primary challenge for AI collaboration is discovery and conflict resolution. Castellana described GenLayer’s contribution as a “digital court system,” noting that OKX provides the massive distribution network required to scale this solution.
Strategic Funding and Developer Tools
OKX’s expansion comes on the heels of significant institutional backing. In March, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, invested approximately $200 million in OKX, valuing the firm at $25 billion. Rafique explained that while the ICE partnership focuses on modernizing traditional financial markets through asset tokenization, OKX AI aims to modernize currency itself for the machine-to-machine era.
Developers can access the marketplace through Onchain OS, OKX’s dedicated software development kit (SDK) for connecting AI agents to blockchain networks. The platform requires no OKX exchange account to use and features native compatibility with leading AI development tools, including Claude Code, Codex, Hermes, and OpenClaw.
Leveraging India’s Developer Hub to Bypass Regulations
Because the initial rollout of OKX AI targets developers rather than retail traders, India has become a central focus of the company’s expansion strategy. The country hosts one of the world’s largest concentrations of blockchain and AI engineering talent, making it a prime testing ground for the new marketplace.
This developer-first approach also serves a strategic regulatory purpose. In 2024, OKX suspended its retail exchange operations in India due to local regulatory hurdles. Rafique confirmed that India remains a top-tier market for the firm, noting that developer-focused tools like OKX AI face significantly fewer regulatory barriers than retail cryptocurrency trading, allowing the company to re-engage with India’s tech ecosystem immediately.
