Telegram Unlocks In-App Crypto Wallet for US Users
Telegram is officially expanding access to its integrated TON crypto wallet for its 87 million users in the United States, bypassing previous regulatory hurdles to provide a seamless gateway to digital assets directly within the messaging app.
Simplifying Web3 Access Directly Inside Telegram
The TON wallet, built on the Open Network (TON) blockchain, is embedded directly within the Telegram application interface. By eliminating the friction of downloading external applications or managing complex external keys, this native integration is designed to serve as a highly accessible onramp for individuals new to the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
Overcoming Regulatory Hurdles and Driving Global Adoption
While Telegram has offered its crypto wallet to international users since 2023, regulatory uncertainty in the United States had previously blocked its domestic rollout. Despite these regional limitations, the wallet’s global footprint grew rapidly, with more than 100 million users worldwide activating their wallets last year—representing approximately 10% of Telegram’s 1 billion active global users.
As the feature makes its highly anticipated debut in the U.S. market, the underlying network continues to show consistent utility. Public data indicates that the TON blockchain currently processes approximately 334,000 transactions per day, a metric poised to shift as millions of potential new American users gain access.
