Amazon October Prime Day: Massive Sale Set for Oct 7-8
Amazon will launch its annual fall shopping event, Prime Big Deals Day, globally on October 7 and 8, starting at 12:01 a.m. PT on October 7, to capture early holiday shoppers. This 48-hour event marks the continuation of the e-commerce giant’s strategy to host two major Prime-exclusive sales events within the same calendar year.
Next-Gen AI Shopping Tools Take Center Stage
Amazon is betting heavily on artificial intelligence to streamline the shopping experience this October. Customers will be encouraged to use Rufus, the platform’s conversational AI shopping assistant, alongside visual search innovations like Amazon Lens and Lens Live. The latter feature enables users to point their smartphone cameras at physical objects in the real world to instantly locate matching products on the Amazon website. Additionally, shoppers can track active discounts using Amazon’s new Alexa+ conversational assistant.
Early Discounts and Exclusive Prime Member Perks
Ahead of the official October 7 launch, Amazon is rolling out early promotions, including markdowns on proprietary Amazon devices, Kindle e-books, and exclusive artist merchandise through Amazon Music and the main storefront.
Exclusive Entertainment and Lifestyle Benefits
Prime members will also gain access to unique lifestyle perks during the promotional window. These benefits include early ticket access for the musical “Wicked: For Good,” fuel savings, dining discounts on McDonald’s meals through Grubhub+, and enhanced cashback incentives tailored for Prime Young Adult subscribers.
A Massive Global Footprint for Holiday Shopping
The Prime Big Deals Day event will span multiple international markets. Shoppers in the United States, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom will participate. For the first time, Amazon is expanding the event to Colombia, Ireland, and Mexico.
This event follows a record-breaking summer. Amazon’s July Prime Day drove $24.1 billion in total online sales across the entire U.S. retail sector over four days, marking a 30.3% year-over-year surge, according to data from Adobe Analytics. Notably, mobile devices accounted for over half of those transactions for the first time in history.
