DoorDash Launches AI Tools to Revamp Merchant Menus
Delivery giant DoorDash launched a suite of advanced AI-powered merchant tools on Monday to drastically accelerate onboarding, automate website creation, and visually optimize food photography on its platform.
Streamlining Onboarding with Automated Web Scraping
The newly introduced onboarding system operates similarly to a tool debuted by Amazon in 2024. Restaurant owners can simply input their existing business website URL, allowing the AI to automatically extract critical information. The tool seamlessly pulls menu items, operating hours, and photos to construct a ready-to-go DoorDash app listing, which merchants can thoroughly review and modify before publishing.
Interactive Videos and AI-Powered Food Styling
In addition to setup tools, DoorDash has upgraded its interactive video library. Merchants can now tag specific menu items directly inside their video content, enabling customers to place orders instantly while watching. To help business owners track performance, the platform provides detailed analytics, including total views, video-driven revenue, and acquisition rates for new customers.
Next-Level Food Photography with AI Retouch and Replate
To help dishes look their absolute best, the platform introduced two sophisticated image-editing features. The “AI Retouch” tool sharpens food images, optimizes lighting, and swaps out backgrounds without altering the actual appearance of the dish. Meanwhile, “AI Replate” digitally manipulates food photos to make them look professionally plated, adjusting colors and lighting. Merchants can also upload reference photos to apply specific aesthetic styles to their existing imagery.

“At DoorDash, we’re constantly building tools to help merchants succeed, from their very first day on the platform, to every order after,” said Brian Tolkin, head of merchant product at DoorDash. “These new tools reflect our belief that the right technology should remove friction, not add it, so merchants can focus on what they do best: making great food and delivering incredible customer experiences.”
Expanding the Commerce Platform and Marketing Automation
The company is also rolling out updates to its commerce platform. A new feature allows restaurant owners to instantly generate a standalone website using their existing DoorDash menu and media assets. According to DoorDash, merchants who participated in early testing experienced average order conversion rates of nearly 10%.
Furthermore, DoorDash introduced an automated marketing campaign builder. This utility allows merchants to streamline their outreach by automating content generation, scheduling, and email marketing campaigns directly through the platform.
