College App Fizz Launches Gopuff Campus Grocery Delivery
College social platform Fizz is launching an instant grocery delivery service for US students across more than 620 campuses through an exclusive partnership with Gopuff, enabling 15-minute deliveries directly within the app to meet growing user demand for convenience.
Launched in 2021, Fizz has built a massive footprint in higher education, facilitating over 27 million anonymous posts where classmates connect locally. The platform already includes a peer-to-peer marketplace for buying and selling items, making the leap into instant commerce a strategic next step for the rapidly growing network.
A Natural Evolution for Campus E-Commerce
In an email exchange, Fizz co-founder and CEO Teddy Solomon explained that integrating grocery delivery answers a long-standing demand from the app’s user base. Students were already utilizing the Fizz Marketplace and coordinating group food runs through the platform, making an official delivery integration the logical next step.
Partnering with Gopuff was a strategic decision driven by shared origins. Both companies were built by college students to solve campus-specific needs, creating an organic alignment between the two brands.
Shared Gen Z DNA and Instant Logistics
“Gopuff was founded by college students and has long had a strong presence on campuses, so the synergy with Fizz was clear,” Solomon said. “We share the same Gen Z DNA, and once conversations began, it was obvious this partnership would be a great fit. By combining Fizz’s community and extreme distribution with Gopuff’s ability to deliver essentials instantly, we are making student life easier.”
How the Fizz Store Simplifies Student Shopping
While students can access Gopuff through its standalone app, the Fizz integration streamlines the experience. The dedicated “Fizz Store” features curated, pre-selected grocery collections tailored to campus life, allowing users to quickly purchase themed bundles such as Gym, Study Fuel, and Rush bags.
Expanding Beyond Social Media Norms
Even with the addition of commercial features like the marketplace and instant delivery, the company emphasizes that social connection remains its primary identity.
“As platforms like Instagram and TikTok have gone all in on entertainment (only 7% of content consumed on Instagram is from friends), Fizz has continued to be the most powerful community for shared experiences and identities,” Solomon noted. “Features like the Fizz Store are a direct extension of the core experience, and help to fulfill Fizz’s mission of being the social app for the 99% of life that is not on Instagram and TikTok.”
Rapid Growth and Future Outlook
Looking ahead, Fizz plans to maintain its aggressive expansion to new campuses and markets while continuing to roll out authentic, community-focused social features.
The strategy appears to be working. Over the past month, the startup quadrupled its daily active users, expanded to over 250 new campuses, and broke its single-day registration record for 12 consecutive days. To date, the company has secured $41 million in funding to fuel its ongoing expansion.
