Poshmark Shakeup: Founder Manish Chandra Steps Down

Fashion resale giant Poshmark announced on Monday that founder Manish Chandra is stepping down as Chief Executive Officer, passing the leadership torch to Namsun Kim, the company’s current executive chairman, as part of a planned executive transition.

From a Silicon Valley Garage to 150 Million Users

Chandra’s departure marks the end of a defining era for the social commerce platform. Alongside three co-founders, he launched Poshmark in 2011 from a Silicon Valley garage. Over the course of nearly 15 years, Chandra guided the startup through a successful public offering (IPO), negotiated its acquisition by South Korean internet giant Naver in 2022, and scaled the marketplace to its current milestone of over 150 million users.

While Chandra is relinquishing his day-to-day executive duties, he will maintain an active role in shaping the company’s future by transitioning into a seat on Poshmark’s board of directors.

A Heartfelt Farewell to the Resale Community

In a personal email sent directly to Poshmark users, Chandra expressed deep gratitude for the community that fueled the platform’s massive growth over the last decade and a half.

“Leading this company has been the greatest honor of my professional life,” Chandra wrote. “Every success we’ve achieved, every challenge we’ve overcome, has been because of you. It’s been the privilege of a lifetime witnessing each of you grow, and it has truly inspired me every single day. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. For being the extraordinary community that you are, for your trust, your creativity, and for all the possibilities you continue to create together.”

Namsun Kim Takes the Reins

Incoming CEO Namsun Kim is well-positioned to lead Poshmark’s next chapter. Kim brings extensive financial and strategic expertise from parent company Naver, where he currently serves as president of investments. He has also been deeply embedded in Poshmark’s corporate governance, serving as the platform’s executive chairman since April.

According to Chandra, the leadership handover is the result of careful, long-term planning. Kim has been collaborating closely with the founder since the beginning of this year to guarantee a seamless and stable transition for the business, its employees, and its global user base.
